First Long Run since...

Yeah, I really can't remember when I last went on a long run. I've recently got back into track and running in general after the taxing soccer season. I was thinking of taking a break this winter and running track in the spring, but I guess my inner track bug got the best of me. Anyways, these past few weeks, I've been focusing on building the foundations again and got a couple of workouts in as well. The very first run back––which was just an aerobic 4 miles––felt heavy, but I'm feeling a lot lighter and close to where I was last year. Getting back into full shape and hitting the PRs I want to hit this season is going to take some time, but I know it's in reach.

Winter break is a time to relax but also one of the most important parts of the track season. You're pretty much screwed if you don't run over the break. Coach provided the team with a balanced plan so that we're ready to go for the Lawrenceville Relays when we get back. On Saturdays, we usually go on long runs, and today was my first long run in a while: a solid 8.2 miles at aerobic pace. You probably don't care, but here are my splits:

You can tell that I still have to work on hitting consistent splits, but in general, I'm happy with how my long run went––no shin splints, brutal cramps, or one of those tingling feelings. Sunday is an off day, so I'll rest up and get ready for Monday.

That's about it for now. I'll keep y'all updated on how the season goes.
