Alfredo and Salvatore Di Vita Scene from Cinema Paradiso

This past weekend, my family and I watched a truly inspirational film called Cinema Paradiso -- easily one of the best movies I have seen. Cinema Paradiso is not a movie with a unique storyline; some may even say the story itself is cliche. Instead, the film is a piece of art that demonstrates the importance of relationships and perfectly displays the emotions of love, misery, excitement, and hopefulness. On top of the top-class cinematography, Ennio Morricone's soundtracks in this film were phenomenal. If you have two hours to spare in the coming weeks, I recommend all of you to watch this masterpiece.

There is one part in the film where Alfredo tells Totò, "Whatever you end up doing, love it" -- a frequently said statement in today's society but one that we often ignore. We usually do something just because we have to do it. We often do something without asking ourselves, "why am I doing this right now?" The other day, I was working through a set of interesting math problems and asked myself, "why am I solving these questions?" "What's the purpose of solving these questions?" "What am I gaining from investing my time in solving these questions?" Well, first off and most importantly, I was having a great time. Scribbling my thoughts on a piece a paper while listening to my favorite songs on YouTube was refreshing and reduced stress. I understand how there are tasks, such as homework (if you are a student), that we 100% always need to do. In these cases, try and find something that interests you or excites you about that work or assignment. It's not the easiest thing at first, but looking at the bright side of things never hurts.

Alfredo tells Totò to go out in the real world and do something that attracts him. Go and do the things you love, not the things that bore you.

Happy Monday to all of you and have a wonderful week :)
