Unfortunately, Thibaut Courtois, one of the premier world-class goalkeepers of all time, has made his ultimate decision to enter Real Madrid's Squad for $45 million. For replacement, Chelsea has signed the 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and the majority of the Chelsea fans are looking forward to him.
However, I strongly believe that it is vital to acknowledge him for his diligent work and efforts during his time in Chelsea FC. Hence, I have decided to recall several astonishing saves and moments of Courtois!
Unforgettable Moment #1: Thibaut Courtois vs Brazil (World Cup 2018)
One of the reasons why Thibaut Courtois was awarded the Golden Glove in the World Cup 2018 was because of the match against Brazil. When I was watching the game at home with my brother, we knew that the man of the match had to be Courtois. Both of us went wild after his save against Coutinho and Neymar during the second half. With a mixture of slight bits of luck (Brazil hit the post in the first half) and his skillful techniques, his side only conceded a goal in the quarter-finals.
Unforgettable Moment #2: Thibaut Courtois vs Manchester United (FA Cup)
There were numerous times where Manchester United was capable of scoring against Chelsea during the FA Cup finals. Nevertheless, one of the most remarkable moments was when Marcus Rashford received a superb through-pass from Jessie Lingard and produced an exceptional opportunity to score. Rashford was rejected by Courtois in the first place, and the possession was returned to Chelsea as the ultimate touch was from Rashford.
Unforgettable Moment #3: Thibaut Courtois vs Arsenal (EPL Season)
This 3rd one was a wondrous save... I still remember how I believed we conceded, yet Courtois pulled another one of his marvelous saves. Through the second half, Oxlade-Chamberlain crossed the ball into the box and Gabriel Paulista directed the ball straight down the center. Without any uncertainties, he thrust his body to get the ball aside from the goal. Wow.
Unforgettable Moment #4: Thibaut Courtois vs Arsenal (Community Shield)
All the Chelsea supporters knew during the match that Arsenal had Granit Xhaka, one of the exceptional long-range shooters, on their side and that Xhaka would at limited strike once. Eventually, the long-range shooting master did take a shot from outside the box. The ball was heading exactly for the upper corner of the left side but was fortunately denied by Courtois. Everyone knew at that instant that Courtois was the champion.
Unforgettable Moment #5: Thibaut Courtois vs Barcelona (UCL)
During Chelsea's journey in the UEFA Champions League, they had to face the incredible Barcelona in the 16th round. Unfortunately, Chelsea's weren't able to reach their hopes as they tied one match and lost the other. Yet, Thibaut Courtois once again proved that he was among the world-class goalkeepers after blocking Luis Suarez's difficult shot. The defenders were unable to stop him which lead to Courtois diving to deny the ball.
