Sorry for the delayed post on this website. It has been an extremely hectic two weeks settling into my new life in the United States. For background context, on the 31st of August, I arrived early at The Lawrenceville School after being invited to come for a preseason session, where all the soccer players were competing for a spot on the Varsity squad. Although I was a freshman and the chances were slim, the four days of high-quality soccer with the sophomores, juniors, and seniors was an exceptional experience. Just in those four days, I certainly developed as a player and an athlete. After days of arduous training, conditioning drills, and demanding scrimmages the final rosters were out. Although I didn't make the Varsity squad for the 2019-20 season, I was given a spot on the Junior Varsity team. As the youngest player on the JV soccer team, I immediately viewed this as a positive outcome and an influential catalyst that could potentially further improve my abilities in soccer.

With the 2019-20 Lawrenceville soccer season ahead of me, I decided to make a series where I briefly record my training sessions or matches, so that I could constantly have a time for self-reflection and share my opinions on the beautiful game of soccer. Without further information, here is the first diary post of the Lawrenceville 2019-20 soccer season. Down below, are a few photos that I have taken during the past few days! Hope you enjoy!!

Game Day Diary

Basic Information of Day:

- Date of Match: September 11th, 2019 (Wednesday)

- First official match of the 2019-20 soccer season

- Played Holding Center Midfielder

- Played against Germantown Academy (Home)

- Final Score: 1-2 Loss

Positive Points about Today's Game:

- Scored first goal in my Lawrenceville Soccer Career, which provided immense motivation and energy as we were previously down by two goals

- Able to make successful and safe passes to wingers and open players

- Generated several one-two passes by making use of open space

- Attempted to play long crosses to wingers

Negative Points about Today's Game:

- Hesitated when there was an ideal chance to shoot

- Quite often, a late player running into the box was wide open and as a holding midfielder, the late runner should've been marked. There were a few situations where an opposition player was unmarked and Germantown Academy made shots on target.

- Through-balls to strikers were attempted but not always accurate

- After a counter-attack, a lack of communication sometimes lead to open spaces in the middle, which easily created more threatening chances for the opponent.

Main lesson learnt for future games:

Take the valuable CHANCES that are gifted to you as they are rare!
