The Lawrenceville 2019-20 Indoor season has come to an end! Although it is very unfortunate that the spring season of track has been cancelled due to the coronavirus, it has been an absolutely exceptional first season of indoor track this year. Looking forward to the remaining years of BIG RED athletics ahead of me :)

Overall Thoughts on Season:
Although I had tried cross country and outdoor track, it was the first time trying indoor track and was one of the greatest athletic experiences. Unlike soccer, I learned the ultimate truth that track is not about beating your opponents but competing against yourself—competing against your self to break your record, competing against yourself to reach your maximum potential. Through multiple meets this season, the importance of finishing ahead of your opponents was clear. Nonetheless, going into a race with a mindset ready to depend on other runners wasn't efficient. Instead, calculating your splits in advance, setting yourself a goal for the race, and trusting your pace was the key to racing.
Another reason behind the joy of this season was the coaches and incredibly supportive teammates. The whole team was there on the sidelines, screaming and cheering for each other. Every day at 3:30 PM, the coaches were there for us. The painful workouts the coaches planned were catalysts allowing me to shave off seconds of my time. What felt like a new group of strangers ended up becoming one of my greatest friends and brothers. Similar to the JV soccer experience, I entered the varsity track team with a narrow mindset to learn and simply experience. Nevertheless, after the end of every training session, determination, ambition, and confidence grew within my mindset. Once again, thank you to the whole track & field team. Also, a HUGE HUGE thank you to Coach Wallis, Coach Streeter, and Coach Mook for showing me what it truly takes to become an athlete.
To finish off, here are a few tips I have learned this season, which will also help me in other sports in the upcoming years:
1. IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP BEFORE RACE (shoot for around 9 hours of sleep)
2. PUSH YOURSELF NOW SO YOU DON'T REGRET IT LATER
3. RUN YOUR OWN RACE (believe in yourself)
4. COMPETE AGAINST YOURSELF
